What is a half-brother?
A half-brother is a brother who shares one parent with you rather than both. Full siblings share two parents; half-siblings share exactly one, through either your mother or your father. The 'half' carries down the tree: his children are your half-nieces and half-nephews, and the children of half-siblings are half first cousins.
